Welcome to Bartow County School System! Starting a new job can be an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience, filled with questions and uncertainties. The Benefit Resource Center will guide you through your questions in a convenient, educational, and simple enrollment experience.
As a new hire, enrollment in benefits is a two-step process. First, you must enroll or waive health coverage with State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP). Secondly, you must enroll or waive ancillary benefits such as: dental, vision, life insurance, etc. through the ShawHankins bswift portal.
State Health Benefit Plan- SHBP (Health Insurance)
Follow the link below to elect or waive health insurance through SHBP. As a new hire, you will click on “register” and us the passcode SHBP-GA. Once registered- create a username and password and continue through electing a plan or waiving coverage. (To view SHBP Active Decision Guide, please click on the link under the Employee Benefits tab above)
If you are a transfer from another Georgia school district you are not eligible to make any changes to your SHBP coverage. Your current coverage and payroll deductions will transfer to Bartow County Schools.

Questions about your ancillary products or to have your password reset? Call ShawHankins Toll-Free: 1-877-242-4380.
Please note: You are required to provide the below information for all dependents/beneficiaries:
– Date of Birth
– Social Security Number
It is required for all benefit eligible employees to access the above websites to waive or elect coverage. Failure to enroll in health insurance and ancillary products within the given time-period will result in the inability to elect coverage until the next open enrollment. If you are a new hire and you waive coverage, be aware that with some benefits, there can be a late entrant penalty or waiting period penalty applied to your coverage and benefits would then be limited and/or could require a medical Evidence of Insurability-EOI, to be completed. (Please review all detailed plan summaries for these limitations under the Employee Benefits tab above)
Please print and save a copy of the confirmation sheets from SHBP and ShawHankins products.
