Accident & Critical Illness

You probably know an accident or a critical illness can happen at any time — along with unexpected costs that may not be covered in full by your major medical insurance. Help pay for some of the related costs and make your money go further with MetLife Accident and Critical Illness Insurance. It supplements your medical insurance by helping pay for expenses that may not be covered, like co-pays and deductibles.

To file an Accident claim you can log into mybenefits.metlife.com, register for an account if you have not already done so, and then initiate the claim. You can also download the MetLife Mobile App and initiate a claim from the app. Also, for wellness claims specifically, employees can call MetLife directly at (800) 438-6388 and a representative will transfer them to the Health Screening Benefits line where the claim will be filed via telephone, rather than submitting a paper claim.

Critical Illness Insurance
Ease the financial impact of a covered critical illness, including conditions such as a heart attack, cancer or stroke.

Enroll in both supplemental health insurance plans and a single event could be covered by more than one plan. For example, if you suffer an injury from an accident and later have a verified diagnosis of a covered critical illness, having more than one plan could work in your favor as you may be eligible to receive multiple payments for these occurrences.

You can also count on:

  • Guaranteed acceptance for you and other eligible family members5
  • Payments made directly to you, not your healthcare provider
  • Coverage that’s portable, meaning you can take it with you if your employment status changes6
  • Take advantage of competitive employee rates
